2011年4月6日の快晴の千本釈迦堂のしだれ桜の風景です。 本堂を造営する際、大工の棟梁が代りのない柱の寸法を誤って切ってしまった。それを見た妻のおかめがひと言アドバイスし、その結果無事に完成させることができた。 しかしおかめは女の提案で完成したことが知れてはと上棟式を待たずに自害してしまった。 こんなことが昔はあったのですね。 On April 6, 2011, it is the scenery in full blossom of the cherry tree of Senbon-Shakdo of a clear day. 2011年4月6日の快晴の千本釈迦堂のしだれ桜の風景です。
鎌倉時代の安貞元年（1227年）に創建されました。
千本釈迦堂の本堂は、応仁文明の乱にも焼けることはなく洛中最古の建造物で国宝となっています。
この本道の建立に関しての逸話があります。（それはまた明日）
